WHere do I find my GPA?
Your overall GPA is computed and displayed in your infinite campus portal. You can find your unweighted science GPA by assigning each semester of science a number corresponding to the grade you earned (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0), then averaging them. (nifty embedded GPA calculator coming soon!)
What Forms do I need?
Applying for Initial Membership
If you are eligible for membership, you will be initially notified via a letter delivered to your class. That will mention two forms, one that you must print and complete and return to Ms. Ellis, and one that you must give to two teachers (ONE from the Monarch Science Dept. that taught you in one of the prerequisite classes, ONE from any Monarch Staff Member of your choice).

Completing Membership
If you are accepted after submitting these forms, you are required to pay membership fees. The membership fee offsets the cost of operating the club.

What do you mean I can't miss any meetings?
According to the bylaws, it's unacceptable to miss any meetings. However, any reason that would excuse you from school (i.e. sickness, family emergency, field trips...) do not count against this value. If you believe that one of these circumstances applies to you, please contact Ms. Ellis.
What is Science Outreach?
Similar to other Honor Societies, MoSci is dedicated to fostering and improving scientific awareness in our community. Members are required to take part in this through activities that both demonstrate a passion for science, and a devotion to our greater community. Opportunities will vary from year to year, and will be announced at meetings and listed on the Events page (filter by Science Outreach).
Some examples of activities would include: tutoring, helping teachers set up labs, attending lectures outside of school and volunteering in K-8 classrooms/science clubs.

Meaningfully Contribute?
Though this sounds like a subjective and arbitrary requirement, it's an important topic to address. The Science Honor Society defines meaningful contribution as active participation in tasks shown through the sharing and discussing of ideas, excitement and pride in completed work, and an overall enthusiasm about both science and the task at hand. Meeting this standard is easy, simply bring your best self to all events, be open to participating in discussions, and share your excitement about topics you find interesting.
